Installation Advice for Engines
- Before starting the installation, check:
- That the delivered engine matches your engine.
- The delivered engine for any (transport) damage.
- That everything is in accordance with the agreed terms.
- All oil seals for leakage. Replace if in doubt.
- Additional points of attention/installation tips
- Replace the gasket ring under the oil drain plug.
- Replace oil and oil filter according to factory specifications.
- Pay attention to viscosity and quantity.
- Replace the complete timing belt (possibly including the water pump).
- If you need to swap the intake manifold, make sure it is clean. (Metal particles from the damaged engine can cause the new engine to fail).
- Check the radiator for proper flow/leakage (check after installation if the cooling fan operates).
- Avoid electronic malfunctions. Use as many electronic components such as wiring harnesses, sensors, temperature sensors, etc., that belong to the vehicle.
- Turbo engines: Ensure that sufficient oil reaches the turbo and that it can drain without resistance (consider a kinked return line, etc.). Ensure all intake pipes/hoses and intercooler are clean.
- For diesel engines with an immobilizer on the fuel pump, this must be transferred. (the entire pump or just the immobilizer).
- Follow the manufacturer's disassembly and assembly instructions, including torque settings, etc.
- Check the oil level after the test drive.
- Check the engine for any leaks after the test drive.
- Not covered under warranty:
- The complete timing belt.
- Head gasket (by agreement).
- Leakage at water pump, hose gaskets, and oil seals.
- Flywheel and clutch (especially for versions with a dual-mass flywheel).
- Consequential damage caused by the supplied turbo and/or fuel pump.
