Installation Advice for Turbocharger

Oil Connections

Completely disassemble the turbo oil supply and return lines and ensure they are thoroughly cleaned. Attach the lines to the turbo; never use liquid gaskets. Don’t forget to change the engine oil!!!

Air Lines

Always install a new air filter and clean the air intake pipe. If an intercooler is installed, any oil residues must be removed. Also, carefully check the turbo pressure line for any metal residues and clean it.

Manifold Attachment

The manifolds may contain metal residues from previous turbo damage. These must be removed. A manifold with cracks can damage the new turbo. Check this carefully.

Crankcase Ventilation and Engine Condition

In many cases, the engine's crankcase ventilation is connected to the turbo’s air intake line. A clogged crankcase ventilation causes oil drainage problems for the turbo. An engine in poor condition produces crankcase vapors that are blown through the turbo into the engine, causing incomplete combustion and smoke issues. Also, check the engine oil pressure.

Testing

Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Ensure that sufficient engine oil is being supplied to the turbo. Gradually increase the engine speed and check all connections for any leaks. When the engine is warm, retighten all bolt connections. Carefully adjust the wastegate if necessary.
